Classroom teaching - I taught in the Cinematic Arts department at the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, Jacksonville, Florida, USA.  This is one of the only two public magnet high schools in the country to teach Cinematic Arts.

The Benefaction is the story of a struggling Indian taxi driver who must choose between his values and his loved ones. It has been an 'Official Selection' in 20 Film festivals over 7 countries. 

 

It won 10 awards for Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Short Film, Asian Filmmaker, Woman filmmaker....and has been a finalist in a several festivals. 

What I'd like to do some time in the rest of this lifetime...

Set up my online film school that I've been thinking about for many years!

 

Make films! Yes, my second film is scripted.  (Is a film script ever 'ready'?!)
 

Edit. Tell stories... all kinds of stories. Documentaries, TV shows, Reality shows, Feature films, you name it...

 

Train ... train others with the skills I have, train students to use the different software I know. 

Learn more.. different software, different techniques and styles...

Work internationally, setting up courses for students of different cultures.

 

Travel the world and help people set up new training programs.... Short term programs, longer ones, for younger people, for special needs people, for underprivileged communities ... The medium is powerful and many people can benefit from it.

 

You may ask "Why?" I'd answer, " Because that is what I do best, and what I love to do!

Director/Founder/Course Instructor of MIM (Magic in Motion), my own film school in Bangalore, India. 1997 - 2012.

Magic in Motion taught the uninitiated student the basics of filmmaking in an eight-week, part time, intensive course. MIM graduates have made their presence felt in the Advertising, Fiction, News, and Adventure segments of the industry. Many have gone into production and started their own companies. MIM was the only school of this kind in Bangalore.

 

Head of the Broadcast Television department at the IIJNM (Indian Institute of Journalism & New Media), Bangalore, India. August 2004 - April 2011.

My responsibilities ranged from administrative ones to decision making ones to teaching the Master's level students the technicalities (camera and editing) of Television. The students worked on News stories, News features, News Bulletins and Documentaries as part of their course requirements.

Was in charge of and taught a digital video production course "First Cut Basic" - June 2001 to December 2002.

Jyoti Nivas College, Mt. Carmel College, Christ College. These are three of Bangalore's top colleges. I taught the Video production module of the B.A. communicative english course from 1996 - 2000. I taught the basics of video production, storyboarding, screenplay writing and production techniques in this course. It culminated in a student production.
